2008 Wisconsin
Election Results
The message couldn't be clearer: voters wanted progressive change. They elected an outstanding progressive as the next president. They put Democrats solidly in control of the Congress. They elected at 86 great Progressive Majority candidates to state and local office. In Wisconsin, we achieved our number one electoral goal in 2008: we took control of the state Assembly and changed the direction of Wisconsin politics!
An incredible 17 Progressive Majority candidates scored stunning victories in their hard-fought bids to take back the state Assembly. These wins are a culmination of our five-year, movement building strategy to take control of both chambers of the Wisconsin Legislature. First, we won control of the Senate in 2006, and now, the Democratic majorities in both houses have the clout to create real progressive change in the state.
In Wisconsin's electoral battlegrounds, Progressive Majority is fighting back against conservative power grabs. And, our efforts paid off again: not only did we elect a Democratic majority in the Assembly, we protected our majorities in the Senate. With each victory, we build the progressive base in Wisconsin, and we keep conservatives out of office.
