After growing up in Washington State public schools, Drew Hansen earned degrees from Harvard and Yale Law School and Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Drew is an attorney and author who wrote an influential book about Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech and subsequently appeared on national television networks and colleges across the country to discuss civil rights. Prior to his appointment to the legislature in 2011 Drew was active in local politics and involved in his community. He is a founding member of the Puget Sound Chapter of the American Constitution Society (ACS), a progressive legal advocacy group. In 2005, Governor Gregoire appointed Drew to the Community Economic Revitalization Board, which has invested over $30 million to create and retain jobs in Washington state.
