Joe Neguse is running for Secretary of State. He currently serves on the University of Colorado Regents Board.  As a Regent, Joe has worked to build consensus on tough issues, sponsoring several resolutions that received bipartisan and unanimous support.  In 2011, he authored a resolution to make voter registration more accessible to students, an effort that was applauded nationally and which the Board of Regents ultimately approved unanimously.  Prior to his election as Regent, Joe was appointed by the Boulder City Council to serve as a Commissioner on the Boulder Housing Authority, and also worked at the State Capitol for then-Speaker of the House Andrew Romanoff.

Joe is a first-generation American.  His parents emigrated from Africa.  In 2006, Joe co-founded New Era Colorado, a non-profit foundation aimed at fostering the involvement of youth in the political process. New Era Colorado has since registered tens of thousands of young voters across the State, and has been at the forefront in championing legislation to ensure fair and accessible elections.
