Shanthi Gonzales is running for Oakland School Board, District 6. Shanthi is the Vice Chair of the Oakland Library Advisory Commission in Oakland as well as Vice President of La Raza Centro Legal, an organization that provides free legal services to senior, immigrants and workers in the San Francisco Bay Area. She organizes the East Bay Spanish Language Meetup, which provides cultural and linguistic opportunities for Spanish speakers, and also serves on the Alameda County Human Relations Commission and is involved in the Friends of the Martin Luther King Branch Library. She is currently the Membership and Program Coordinator of the Women Donors Network (WDN), a progressive philanthropic organization. Prior to WDN, she worked in Community Development at The San Francisco Foundation. Shanthi has a background in the labor movement, and has worked for SEIU and the National Union of Healthcare Workers.
