Development Director
Progressive Majority is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of development director based in Washington, DC. This is an upper management position requiring a minimum of seven years relevant fundraising and management experience. All applicants must support a broad progressive agenda and be committed to using the electoral process to affect social change.
Position Summary
The development director works with the president and other senior staff to strategically plan and implement Progressive Majority's fundraising program, which includes individual donor solicitation, web-based fundraising, special events and direct mail. S/he will be responsible for managing the organization's Development Department and expand Progressive Majority's financial base among all levels of donors. Position reports directly to the chief operating officer.
Salary

Political Associate(s)
Progressive Majority is currently seeking qualified applicants for the positions of political associate.
Essential Functions
The political associate's responsibilities include:
- Conduct candidate interviews and political screening; provide candidate training and support services;
- Provide direct campaign consultation in many areas of electoral work, including but not limited to: Targeting, campaign planning, budget development, finance and fundraising, message and communications;
- Coordinate the provision of high-level support services to campaigns by senior staff and consultants; prepare internal materials and correspondence, candidate training materials and templates;
- Assist in coordinating the candidate endorsement process; manage political candidate database; maintain political schedule, including but not limited to election dates, campaign reporting deadlines, training schedules, etc.;
- Help implement campaign finance reporting procedures; and supervise interns.
Qualifications
- Four years (two election cycles) of campaign experience;
- Demonstrated political skills in two or more areas of campaign work (e.g., planning, field, volunteers, fundraising, earned media, targeting, voter contact, events, direct mail, research);
- Proven ability to work successfully on multiple projects simultaneously; demonstrated verbal and written communications skills;
- Intermediate proficiency with current version of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), including merges, charts and graphs; database management experience;
- Online and offline organizing a plus;
- Participation in campaign worker trainings a plus.
Salary $35-$40,000 plus competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, short- and long-term disability, life, paid holidays and five weeks Personal Time Off (PTO).

Development Intern
Position Summary
The development intern is responsible for a wide variety of researching and fundraising duties, including communicating with current donors and assisting in cultivating new and potential donors, as well as working with the Development staff to increase funding for Progressive Majority and endorsed candidates. Interns in this position will be exposed to the day-to-day program operations at a 527, including working with our eight state offices, and our State PACs. S/he reports directly to the development coordinator.
Essential Functions
- Helping to organize fundraising and network-building events across the country;
- Identifying outreach lists and opportunities for Progressive Majority events and national networking;
- Researching prospective donors;
- Prepping call sheets for solicitors doing call time;
- Re-formatting, printing, and stocking donor packets;
- Helping to maintain donor and contact database;
- Communicating with donors and contacts when necessary;
- Coordinate with supervisor to keep supplies in stock;
- Working on special projects as needed; and
- Other administrative duties as assigned by the Development Staff.

Position Summary
The online intern is responsible for a wide variety of online communication and website editing and will work with all department and state offices. Interns in this position will be exposed to the day-to-day program operations at a 527, including working with our eight state offices, and their staff. S/he reports directly to the online manager.
Essential Functions
- Updating website;
- Internet research;
- Drafting text web pages, action emails & email appeals;
- Proofing data;
- Monitoring online new outlets;
- Responding to email inquiries;
- Other duties as assigned by online staff.
Qualifications
All applicants must be:
- Motivated self-starter and able to work well without constant supervision;
- Interest in online politics, progressive issues and electoral politics;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office and ability to conduct Web-based research;
- Beneficial, but not required to have PhotoShop or HTML coding experience.

Political Program Intern
Position Summary
The political program intern is responsible for a wide variety of research and general administrative duties, including working with the Political Programs Department to implement all program and general support. Interns in this position will be exposed to the following: Day-to-day program operations at a 527, including our state offices and the Racial Justice Campaign.
S/he reports directly to the program director.
Essential Functions
- Program research and analysis within the progressive community;
- Assist staff with major projects in movement cultivation;
- Research historical, professional and political information for prospective and current progressive partner organizations;
- Identify outreach lists and opportunities for Progressive Majority training, speakers, events and national networking;
- Enter political data and records, help maintain political database;
- Merge, print and assemble materials and resources for states;
- Help coordinate calls and meetings for senior department staff;
- General administrative office responsibilities;
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
